 Us Navy  CTOCM (E9)
Master Chief Edward W. (Pete) Davis

I enlisted in the Navy on February 8, 1952. Went through bootcamp at San Diego California and my schooling for the Naval Security Group in Imperial Beach. The Naval Security Group primarily filled a support function for the fighting arm of the U.S. military. We gathered intelligence for analysis to determine what our enemies or potential enemies were or could be doing.

My job function was sending and receiving communications. It was an essential job, but not very awe inspiring and definitely not heroic. Our branch was very hush-hush, my wife didn't have a clue as to what my job was other than I was in "the Navy". I retired on March 18, 1974 and during my service I was stationed in Bremerhaven Germany, Washington D.C., San Miguel Philippines, Wahiawa Hawaii, San Diego California, spent 10 months on the USNS Pvt. Jose F Valdez, stationed in Pensacola Florida and finally back to Wahiawa Hawaii where I retired as a Master Chief before moving back to my hometown in Iowa.

Some of my best memories come from my military experience and I wouldn't trade them for anything.  While serving , I was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal European Class, National Defense Medal (2), Good Conduct Medal (6).

In 1975, after retiring from the Navy I purchased a farm in North East Iowa and began my second career as a farmer. For the next 27 years I farmed and retired for the second time in 2002.

Each person who serves our great country is a hero in our eyes.
