1st Sergeant-Emile Roy

Emile Roy was inducted into the US Army in February of 1941.  He has the distinction of being among the first group of young men drafted from Waterville, Me.  He received his training at Ft. Bragg, NC.  Emile served a 3 year tour with the Eastern Defense Command out of New York under General McClosky.  After graduating counter intelligence school at Camp Ritchie, MD he went on to complete non-commissioned officer school at Camp Howes, TX. 

He finished his tour of duty in 1946 serving his last a six months in the Attu-Aleutian Islands, Alaska.  After retuning home to Waterville he and his wife had 6 children.  Emile owned and operated Grondin’s Dry Cleaning until he retired.  Like many others, Emile continued to give back to the community in so many ways.

Each person who serves our great country is a hero in our eyes.
