Corporal Martin Bressler


Martin Bressler from Kennebunk, Me serve with the 1/87 Infantry 10th Mountain Division.  As one of the first conventional forces on the ground in  March of 2002, they were tasked to create a blocking position as part of Operation Anaconda.   Martins Unit was ambaushed and fought an 18 hour firefight.

Martin quotes, "The heroism I saw will stay with me the rest of my years. When people tell me that I am a hero, I tell them that i am not, but fought with a platoon of heroes."  Martin returned home after five years of service with the United States Army.  For his service he received the Purple Heart, Army Commendation, Valourous Unit Award, 2 Army Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service/Epeditionary Medal and Army Service Ribbon. Martin continues to serve his community as teacher and freshman soccer coach at St. Dominic Regional High School.
