Technician 5th Grade-Elie Roy
Elie Roy was inducted in the service May of 1943. He received his basic training at Fort Hood, TX and Fort Jackson, SC. and was assigned to Battery C. with the 83 Armored Field Artillery. Boarding the S.S. Thomas H. Barry in 1944, he landed in Swansea Wales. Five months later, he shipped out of Southlitton, England for Utah Beach and some of the bloodiest battles of WWII. Elie saw fighting in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Central Europe.
He was discharged in December of 1945. After returning home, Elie and his wife raised a family of four children. Elie was a very successful sale representative for New York Life and continued serving and supporting his local commun ity.
Each person who serves our great country is a hero in our eyes.
