Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8)- Tim Russell
 

Tim Russell enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1966 and completed boot camp at NRTC Great Lakes, Illinois in the summer of 1966. Upon completing a variety of specialty training schools in 1967, he shipped out to the Republic of Vietnam to serve in Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three (HAL-3), also known as the “Seawolves”.

The squadron’s mission was to support military combat operations throughout the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War. After serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, Tim served tours of deployment to Sicily and Puerto Rico while stationed with Patrol Squadron (VP-23) at NAS Brunswick, Maine.

Tim also served with Attack Squadron (VA-75) also known as the “Sunday Punchers,” on the aircraft carriers USS Saratoga and USS America, serving two deployments in the Mediterranean Sea.

In his years of service, Tim has also attained qualifications in Navy Survival tactics, Cold Weather Survival, and Prisoner of War (POW) survival techniques. Awards include the Navy Commendation Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Presidential Unit Commendation Medal; Navy Unit Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal (5 Stars); National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam (RVN) Service Medal; Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3 Stars)  

Tim states “I have been blessed, to have had such a varied and successful military career and a wife and family that supported my service in the U.S. Navy. I am honored and proud to have served my country.”
