Sergeant Bob Dunham
I was playing professional baseball with the Cinncinati Reds when I was drafted on Sept.15th, 1965. After receiving basic training at Ft.Leonardwood, Missouri and 3 weeks of AIT at Ft.Sill, Oklahoma, we were suddenly notified that we were going to Vietnam. We arrived in Vietnam in January of 1966 and were assigned to the 5th/27th Artillery attached to the 101st Airborne. Our mission was to set up radio relays for major operations of the 101st and operate as Forward Observers for the 5th/27th Artillery. After serving 2 years, I left Vietnam to spend my last 5 months of the service assigned to Ft.Monmouth,New Jersey.
I am now retired and reside in Rochester,Minnesota. I spend much of my time working for "Tee It Up For The Troops", helping them raise money for Veterans and for those young men and women who come back from Iraq and Afghanistan severley wounded. I've been happily married to a terrific lady (Cindy) for 35 years. We have 3 wonderful children, Rob, Doug and Karissa and 4 fantastic grandchildren, Peyton,Parker,Kadyn and Kyra who we have a wonderful time with.
Each person who serves our great country is a hero in our eyes.
