Sergeant Al Richards

Al Richards was drafted into the US Army in 1966.He received the bulk of his training at Ft. Riley, Kansas.  The 9th Division was being reactiviated and Al went to Vietnam as one of it's members. He was assigned as a forward observer, directing artitillery, helicopters and support. Sergeant Al Richards was wounded by the Viet Cong on Boobytrap Island and again in an ambush while on patrol.  Many of the men in his unit did not return from Vietnam.  Al now serves as the Chairman of the National Security Committee for the American Legion of Wisconsin.
